Curling: Aitken girls in joint third

Murrayfield curlers Gina and Tasha Aitken both saw their luck change on day two of the Scottish Junior Championships in Aberdeen.

Gina lost her first two round-robin matches on Wednesday but won two out of two yesterday, against Lauren Baxter (Greenacres) and Katie Murray (Stirling). Tasha won her two games on Wednesday and then lost two yesterday – against Lockerbie’s world junior champion Hannah Fleming and local skip Rebecca Kesley – leaving the Edinburgh girls in joint third place.

Clubmate Bruce Mouat is in fourth spot in the men’s competition after yesterday brought an 11-2 mauling from Perth schoolboy Robin Brydone followed by an 8-3 win over Ross Whyte (Dumfries).
