Canadians coming to town

The Standard Life Great Britain women’s team go into this weekend’s basketball double-header with Canada at Meadowbank under no illusions of how tough a task they face.

GB coach Tom Maher said: “They’re highly ranked and highly motivated but we want to see if we can hang in there with a team of that calibre who are that physical.”

Team GB’s cause has not been helped by the loss of Kim Butler, who is injured, but Rose Anderson, the only Scot in the team, hopes that the home crowd can help to make up for that. The teams were due to play today (3pm) then at 1pm tomorrow.
