Bowls: Elite Scotland squad unveiled
Bowls Scotland has announced the 26 bowlers to form the new elite squad. The 14 men and 12 women are the core players who will represent Scotland at events leading up to the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
David Gourlay has hit the ground running since undertaking his new role as head coach at Bowls Scotland last month, and will be working closely with the group, developing the Elite Plan and player pathway to ensure no stone is left unturned in the lead up to the Games.
He said: “There is a strong combination of experience as well as youth, which represents a potent mixture of talent within the squad. The squad members have played their way to selection with solid and consistent performances. But the door remains open at this stage as we start building towards 2014.”
Elite squad – Men: Graeme Archer, Darren Burnett, Paul Foster, Robert Grant, Alister Kennedy, Grant Logan, Tommy Mann, Alex Marshall, Robert Marshall, Derek Oliver, David Peacock, Martyn Rice, Jonathon Ross, Neil Spiers. Women: Lauren Baillie, Caroline Brown, Becky Campbell, Michelle Cooper, Claire Douglas, Anne Dunwoodie, Claire Johnstone, Margaret Letham, Susan Murray, Mandy O’Donnell, Lorna Smith, Lynn Stein.
