Bowls: Scots crash in four events

Scotland lost in all four disciplines at the Women’s individual British Championships in Bangor. They went down to Jersey in the singles, pairs and fours and then in the triples to Ireland.

National singles champion Yvonne Veitch from East Lothian lost 21-16 to Jersey’s Sue Dingle and the Jersey also accounted for Leanne and Lauren Baillie from Cockenzie & Port Seton, who went down to Gean O’Neil and Karina Bisson 25-15.

Susan Kelly’s Stranraer rink of Margaret Reid, Jean Sutton and Kay McHaffie were beaten 24-9 by Alison Camacho’s team. And whilst it was looking bright in the triples Watson Memorial’s Jean Thomson, Jessie Bell and Sadie Spalding dropped six shots on the penultimate end and missed out 21-15 to Anne McKiver’s Irish trio.
