Bowls: New-look Scottish side look to defend crown

THE UDDINGSTON club in Lanarkshire hosts the Junior Under-25 Home International Series today and tomorrow, when Scotland will be looking to retain the title.

The hosts have lost several players to an age restriction rule and will line up with seven new caps and one recall in the 24-strong team.

Kirkliston’s Callum Logan will wear the captain’s armband and will skip alongside Rock’s Graeme Sloan, Kevin Anderson from Dumbarton, Westerton’s David Miller, Rutherglen’s Mark Kelsey and Kevin Wallace from Clackmannan.

Play begins at 9.30am with the Scots lining up against Wales who last won the title in 2002, while England, whose last success was in 2008, open against 2010 winners Ireland. In the afternoon Scotland face England then wrap up tomorrow against Ireland.
