Basketball: Gordon led a merry dance

Capital coach Ian Gordon and his Scotland women’s side go into their first game of the European Basketball Championship for Small Countries against Azerbaijan in Struga, Macedonia later today.

They will be without
US-based former Edinburgh Kool Kat Kathryn Taylor
(Colgate), who has shin splints, and with a fitness doubt over their Great Britain squad player Falkirk’s Mairi Buchan
(Old Dominion), who missed out on Olympic selection only to have suffered more bad luck.

Buchan picked up a knee
injury against Austria in training. If she is unable to play, Gordon will be down to nine players.

Scotland have a drawn a tough group and play Malta tomorrow and Moldova on Thursday while hosts FYROM (Macedonia) face Austria, Wales and Gibraltar.
