Otago Highlanders plump for Joseph
Former All Blacks flanker Jamie Joseph has been confirmed as the new coach of the Otago Highlanders.
Joseph, an Otago provincial stalwart in the 1990s, had been expected to be named as the coach of the Super rugby franchise for next year's Super 15 after the NZRU said earlier the position would be advertised, effectively ending incumbent Glenn Moore's tenure.
The 40-year-old will continue coaching Wellington in New Zealand's domestic provincial championship until the end of August when he begins his Highlanders role, the NZRU said. Joseph also coached New Zealand Maori during their successful centenary series in June, when they recorded victories over the New Zealand Barbarians, Ireland and England.
He played 20 test matches for the All Blacks from 1992-1995 and ten matches for New Zealand Maori.
