Orr picks up bronze and UK espoir place
GYMNASTICS: Lucy Orr (Gylemuir Primary School) claimed a bronze medal at the weekend’s British Gymnastics Compulsory 2 competition.
The West Lothian Artistic Club youngster scored an outstanding 57.225 to earn a Compulsory Level 2 certificate, which qualifies her to join the field of Britain’s top 12- and 13-year-old artistic gymnasts at the 2013 British Espoir Championships in March.
Meanwhile, five boys from the National Potential Squad and three girls from City of Glasgow are on a ten-day training camp in Russia at the Rostov-on-Don Olympic Reserve Training Centre.
The exchange camp has been organised by Glasgow School of Sport, and Scottish Gymnastics was invited to be involved with the opportunity to hone the skills in the specialised environment.
The Russian delegation brings coaches and gymnasts to Glasgow each year in return.
The Glasgow School of Sports boys are Adam Logan, Pavel Karnejenko and Kerr McKie, plus Juniper Green Primary School’s Euan McLellan. The girls on the trip are Emma Mackay and Gaynor McGiffen, both from the Glasgow School of Sport, and Megan Morrison (Arkleston Primary School).
