Nish urges Hibs to continue progress

HIBERNIAN striker Colin Nish insists beating Celtic will mean nothing if victory over Hamilton does not follow this weekend.

Nish netted Hibs' second goal in Sunday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League win over the champions, which ended the visitors' 12-match winning run.

Having beaten the leaders, the Easter Road side now take on rock-bottom Accies and Nish is keen to continue momentum: "It was definitely a massive result for us on Sunday and means we have a four-game undefeated run now, taking eight points from our last 12, so things are looking good just at present.

"We look to take it on to next week as there is just no point in beating Celtic if we are not going to take it forward against Hamilton."

Nish had to make do with a place on the bench for the three matches prior to Sunday, earning a recall after netting the equaliser at Falkirk in the previous game with Derek Riordan dropping out of the side.

He hopes back-to-back goals will help keep him in the team in the knowledge there is fierce competition for places among the forwards at Hibs.

He said: "It has been frustrating to have been on the bench in recent weeks and the only way to ensure that you are not back there the next week is to contribute significantly when you do get on.

"Luckily, I did that last weekend against Falkirk and earned my place in the side. I was delighted to start against Celtic and to score again. Hopefully my performance will keep me in the team for a wee bit longer."
