Neale Cooper relieved to turn tables on Cowdenbeath
PETERHEAD manager Neale Cooper put four months of hurt behind him as his side pulled off an impressive 3-1 win at league leaders Cowdenbeath .
Cooper has seen his side lose seven goals without reply in the their last two encounters with Cowdenbeath, including a 5-0 early-season thrashing.
This time a goal in each half from Martin Bavidge and a Barry Wilson free kick after Jay Stein had brought Cowdenbeath back into things proved enough to earn the three points.
Cooper said: "The last time we were here it was a dreadful day and I have been hurting about it since. I am glad to have put it right. Our experienced players saw us through."
A disappointed Cowdenbeath manager Danny Lennon said: "It's all very well having a lot of possession but you need to turn it into goals."
Alloa moved level on points with Cowdenbeath following their 1-1 draw at injury-hit Brechin, with the outright lead up for grabs when the top two meet at Recreation Park tomorrow night.
Stuart Noble put Alloa ahead just after half-time before Rory McAllister notched his 19th goal of the season with 15 minutes left to play.
Alloa manager Allan Maitland admitted: "Brechin were the better side so I'm happy with a point," while his Brechin counterpart Jim Duffy said: "I have to credit my players given the injury problems we have."
Dumbarton scored three times in the first half to set up a 3-2 win over East Fife. Ben Gordon headed in the opener after five minutes, with player-manager Stevie Crawford replying shortly afterwards as he converted a Paul McManus cross. Scott Chaplain and Derek Carcary made it 3-1, but Crawford struck again set up a tense finish.
Clyde remain bottom after losing 2-0 to visitors Stenhousemuir. The first goal came via a Kevin Motion penalty and Jordan Smith sealed the victory.
