McNish sees win blow out

ALLAN McNish was robbed of a fourth American Le Mans Series win by a late puncture in Utah.

The Scot, who leads the championship, was on course to win at Miller Motorsports Park after getting the better of Audi team-mate Frank Biela at the start. But a cruel late puncture dropped him and co-driver Rinaldo Capello to fourth as Audi team-mates Biela and Emanuele Pirro took victory.

McNish said: "We had victory snatched from us when almost in sight so I'm bitterly disappointed. "During my stint the car was working very well which allowed me to build a lead and Dindo (Capello) was able to maintain that when he took over the car from me.

"So it's doubly frustrating that something out of our control like a puncture stopped us from taking a deserved victory. That's motor racing but it's still hard to swallow."
