Stewart hits out as Ford ditches F1

MOTORSPORT: Just a fortnight after terminating his 40-year association with the giant Ford Motor Company, Sir Jackie Stewart has criticised the US-based manufacturer for withdrawing from Formula One.

And the 65-year-old triple F1 world champ believes the company’s decision to sell-off Jaguar Racing, spawned from the Stewart Grand Prix racing team he himself established in 1997, will undermine Ford’s long-term commercial position.

"One of the great things about Ford is the company was a global thinker," Stewart said. "I believe not having a presence in F1 will have long-term implications for the company."
