Changing Room Chat: Monisha Kaltenborn takes reins at Sauber
INDIAN-born Monisha Kaltenborn became the first female team principal in Formula One yesterday after taking the helm at Sauber from founder Peter Sauber with immediate effect.
Austrian citizen Kaltenborn, 41, who was previously chief executive, will take over Sauber’s duties at race weekends. Sauber, who turns 69 on Saturday, will continue as president of the board and retain responsibility for strategic direction. The cigar-smoking Swiss said he wanted to stand back and did not intend to be on the pit wall at the age of 70.
