Brace sets Brookes up for showdown

Tyco Suzuki rider Josh Brookes claimed his first double win of the British Superbike season as he stormed to successive victories at Donington Park.

The race weekend was the last of the main season, with the top six in the championship now set to compete in a three-race showdown at Assen, the Silverstone Arena and Brands Hatch.

Brookes holds one of the Title Fighter berths and finished second in the main season standings, ten points adrift of the Swan Yamaha of Tommy Hill.

Also challenging for the driver’s title will be Shane Byrne, Michael Laverty, Alex Lowes and Tommy Bridewell. Supersonic BMW rider Bridewell forced his way past the WFR Honda pair of Lowes and James Westmoreland in the closing laps of the second race, with the latter missing out on a place in the showdown.
