Audi partner outguns McNish
MOTORSPORT: Scot Allan McNish will defend his American Le Mans Series lead from second place on the grid after being beaten to top spot in qualifying in Utah.
McNish's Audi team-mate Frank Biela snatched pole position late in the session as the new diesel-powered car continued its impressive run of form.
McNish said: "I posted two good qualifying laps, one right at the beginning of the session and one at the end, but Frank just pipped me for pole on his final lap. I wanted pole position, and it is always nice to get that , but to have an all-Audi front row is just fine.
"It's going to be a long and hard race staged in very hot conditions but I feel we have a car capable of winning."
