Morton 1 - 2 Queen of the South

QUEENS battled back from a goal down to maintain their remarkable record of not having lost at Cappielow for 13 years, and at the same time kept the pressure on league leaders Dundee.

The Doonhamers' goal somehow remained intact in 18 minutes through a culmination of brilliance and poor finishing when goalkeeper David Hutton produced two remarkable point-blank stops, first from Peter Weatherson and then Ryan McGuffie.

Morton fashioned a hat-full of chances before going in front in 23 minutes when Erik Paartalu's measured cross from the right should have been cleared by Marvin Andrews, who chose the wrong option and ducked under the ball, allowing Weatherson to nip in behind and head home.

Gordon Chisholm's side showed plenty of fighting spirit and were level in 31 minutes when Paul Burns burst in from the right and drilled a 12 yard shot under Stewart, who looked badly at fault.

Morton might, and probably should have, had a penalty in 38 minutes when Weatherson was halted in his tracks under a challenge from Andrews.

Queen's got the winner in spectacular fashion in 64 minutes with a wonderful 30-yard lob from striker Derek Holmes.
