Morton 2 - 1 Airdrie United: MacGregor's first goal is timely for Morton
DAVID MacGregor's first goal of the season boosted Morton's survival hopes and plunged Airdrie deeper into the relegation mire.
Peter Weatherson's opener had been cancelled out by Diarnmuid O'Carroll but the Greenock men were good value for only their third home win of the season.
Morton went ahead in 20 minutes when Jim McAlister's defence-splitting pass released Weatherson. Ton's top scorer still had work to do but managed to squeeze his 16-yard shot in at the right-hand post.
Airdrie got a deserved reward on the restart when the ball fell for Waddell whose cross found Morton in disarray and O'Carroll took advantage to plant a free header into the net. However, the home side restored their lead when Masterton's inswinging corner was headed in by MacGregor.
