Morton 2 - 0 Clyde

TEN-man Clyde fell deeper into the relegation mire while Morton, with a workmanlike performance, without having to move out of first gear, kept their slim title hopes alive.

Morton, unbeaten in the league at Cappielow in their last 11 games, a record stretching back to mid-August, made the ideal start to preserving that proud run. After 10 minutes Stevie Masterton forced Clyde goalkeeper David Hutton into a full length save to turn his 25-yard free-kick over the bar. Eight minutes later Morton were in front when Ryan McGuffie's square pass found Allan Jenkins in space to run on and drill a powerful low 20-yard shot past Hutton.

John Brown's stuggling side , who have suffered four defeats in their last six games, looked fragile in defence, and in 34 minutes Masterton's long range effort was blocked by defender Chris Higgins and fell perfectly for striker James Grady, but his 12-yard first-time shot went just wide. Two minutes from the break Masterton sent another thunderous free-kick soaring just over the bar from the left touchline.

Morton had the ball in the net again in 58 minutes when Stewart Greacen powered a header past Hutton, but referee Steve Conroy ruled offside.

Davie Irons' side wrapped up the points in 68 minutes when Clyde goalkeeper Hutton, booked three minutes earlier, was sent off when he felled Peter Weatherson as he rushed from goal and Masterton cracked home the spot kick past reserve goalkeeper Peter Cherrie.

Morton almost added a third when Greacen had a spectacular overhead kick turned over by Cherrie 10 minutes from time.
