The organisers of the second Pitreavie Gift professional
athletics meeting, due to have taken place at Pitreavie
Stadium on Sunday, have sensibly decided to postpone the event until March because of the threat of bad weather.
The new date is Sunday March 24, which was the date held in reserve by the organisers for such an eventuality and is just one week before Easter weekend, when the famous Stawell Easter Gift professional meeting, the inspiration for the Fife event, takes place in Victoria, Australia.
“We really had no option but to move to Plan B,” said Ron Sutherland, chairman of the organising committee.
“Our main responsibility is to ensure the interests of the athletes come first, but we also have a responsibility to protect the travelling public and all spectators.”
