Turnbull in Sevens heaven

WATSONIANS winger Andrew Turnbull was celebrating today after becoming Scotland's top sevens try scorer of all time.

The 23-year-old scored three tries in his side's first two ties at the season's final IRB event in Paris to take his overall tally to 31. The tries helped his country reach their sixth cup competition in eight events during 2004/05. Scotland started the day with a 29-0 win over Portugal in Pool B, thanks to a hat-trick of tries by Watsonians' Jamie Blackwood and one from Turnbull and recent Scotland cap Kelly Brown.

The Scots then beat Canada 15-7. A brace from Turnbull and one try from ex-Boroughmuir man Ally Warnock secured the win.

The last tie saw Scotland defeated 26-5 by England to leave the Scots second in the pool ahead of today's knock out stages.
