Well done to the High School of Glasgow’s Juliana Sweeney-Baird for taking top honours at the British Inclusive Skating Championships at the Braehead Ice Rink.

The first-year pupil, who started skating five years ago, won two championship titles – the British Inclusive Skating Novice Ladies’ Champion and British Blind Sport Novice Ladies’ B5 Skating Champion.

Several other Scottish pupils came first in their section events: Murron Rose Dunn (Caldervale High), Findlay Copeland (Uddingston Grammar), Heather McNeil (Airdrie Academy), and Courtney Montgomery (Glencryan High).

The National Ice Skating Association’s Inclusive Skating Championships (now in their third year) – which includes all disabilities and selects skaters for the Special Olympics – recently received national lottery funding and sponsorship from Intu
Braehead.
