EDINBURGH CAPITALS have been dealt a blow with news that Czech international defenseman Michal Dobron has turned down an extension to his contract, opting instead to sign for French club Morzine-Avoriaz for the 2013-14 ice hockey season.

Capitals co-owner Scott Neil revealed he tried everything to keep the fans’ favourite at Murrayfield. He explained: “We were hoping to hold onto Michal, we put to him what was probably our best ever offer to a player, but he’s decided to play somewhere else and we’ve now just got to move on.

“He told us that both he and his family really enjoyed their time in Edinburgh, but they were looking for something a little closer to home.”

Neil continued: “We are in the process of recruiting players and I have no doubt that we will bring some quality to the club. We are slowly but surely building something here in Edinburgh.”
