Capital kid heads for Bundesliga

Two of Scotland’s leading young basketball players, Lee Reilly (Edinburgh Kings) and Ali Fraser (Falkirk Fury), are heading for Germany this autumn to play professionally in the Bundesliga for Gotha Rockets, an ambitious second division team.

Fraser, a 6ft 8in power forward, who was one of the big successes of Scotland’s recent double win over an England side at Meadowbank, has decided to pursue a professional career in Europe rather than return to the University of Maine where he had spent three years on a basketball scholarship.

Reilly, a 21-year-old point guard who missed the Meadowbank internationals as he was trying out for Gotha, has been a key figure in the recent Scottish League and Cup successes of Edinburgh Kings and, like Fraser, has represented Scotland at all levels, senior and junior as well as the GB under-20 team
