Mordi returns to jump for Scotland

AFTER earning her first British vest at last weekend’s European Cup, triple jumper Nony Mordi will return to Scotland colours for the Bank of Scotland Cup at Grangemouth Stadium on Tuesday, 1 July.

The 20-year-old, who finished a disappointing eighth in Annecy as Britain’s women came in fourth, leads the female Scots in an event that sees the host country take on Wales, Ireland, USA Juniors and a Bank of Scotland Development Team at the track in a competition formerly known as the Celtic Cup.

Edinburgh AC’s Gillian Cooke lands the prize draw of lining up against Carolina Kluft, the reigning world and Olympic heptathlon champion, in the long jump.

In the men’s events, Nick Smith leads off in the 100 metres, while Pitreavie’s Graeme Oudney takes on Andy Baddeley, winner of the Dream Mile in Oslo earlier this month, in the 800 metres.
