Miller moves to bolster Bonnyrigg

SUPER LEAGUE leaders Bonnyrigg Rose have moved to strengthen their position at the top of East Region Juniors with the capture of two new players.

The New Dundas Park outfit, who have won all three of their opening fixtures under new boss Alan Miller, are refusing to rest on their laurels and have recruited the new faces ahead of this weekend's clash with Whitburn.

Gary Thom has been brought in on a season-long loan from Stenhousemuir, while Miller has raided his former club Edinburgh United to snap up goalkeeper Mike Atai, who will act as back-up to current No.1 Craig Coyle.

It means Bonnyrigg have brought in seven players since Miller was appointed shortly before the start of the campaign with Paddy Flannery, Keith Salton, Andy Campbell, Scott Ritchie and Andy Howat being added in addition to Thom and Atai.

Miller said: "We are all working hard at the club to ensure a positive future and I'm sure the new guys will have a part to play."

Bonnyrigg midfielder John Elliot looks set to miss Saturday's clash with Whitburn. The Scotland Junior international has yet to play a game this season after picking up a ligament strain but has begun training again. However, the Whitburn game looks like coming too soon.
