Melrose 7s bill unveiled
SOUTH Africa, New Zealand and Hong Kong will provide guest sides for the 2011 Melrose Sevens, and Falkirk will take their tournament bow in a strong Scottish field.
The Hamilton club from Cape Town return to defend their title and are joined by Waikato, the New Zealand sevens champions of last year, and newcomers Hong Kong Scottish, who are being officially launched at Melrose on sevens day, Saturday, 9 April, as a new club modelled on the historic London Scottish RFC.
The Hong Kong Scottish team will include players of Scottish heritage and local Chinese development players. Among the Scots involved are ex-Scotland sevens international David Tait, former Glasgow Hawks centre Ally Maclay and ex-Melrose player Dave Whiteford, and they are coached by Joe Shaw, the former England sevens internationalist.
