McKechnie finds consistency on Tartan Tour
BRAID HILLS pro Paul McKechnie shared fifth in the Tartan Tour's Scottish Wateraid 36-holer at Barassie.
The former EuroPro Tour No.1 closed with a one-under par 71 for a two-under par 142, nine shots behind Chris Doak, who stormed to his second order of merit win in a row with a professional course record 64 for an 11-under 133.
An eagle at the first got Doak going and his title charge gathered pace with five birdies on the spin from the seventh. Despite spilling a shot at the 14th, the former Scottish PGA No.1 bounced back with birdies at 16 and 18 to clinch a cheque for around 2700.
Kingsfield pro Mark King was the next best Lothians player, sharing eighth on 143 after a 74.
In the team event, Euan Little led the United Utilities amateur trio of Ian McAulay, Steve Fraser and Colin MacDonald to victory with a 56.
