McGowne appointed No2 at Arbroath
NEW Arbroath manager Jim Weir has appointed former St Johnstone team-mate Kevin McGowne as his assistant at Gayfield.
Weir returned to the dug-out on Sunday after taking over at the bottom-placed Second Division side just over a year since his controversial departure from Montrose. The 40-year-old ex-defender, who beat Paul Sheerin, John McCormack and Robbie Raeside to the post, said: "Not only is Kevin someone I can trust, he is also a very good coach who possesses a wealth of experience. Like me, he already knows a number of members of the playing staff we are inheriting."
