May admits to interest in deal for Webster
FALKIRK manager Eddie May has confessed he is interested in reviving the career of Rangers defender Andy Webster.
The new appointee has been credited with an ambitious move to take the 27-year-old, who has also been linked with Dundee United, on a season-long loan.
Falkirk are understood to be hopeful that May's assistant, Steven Pressley, can help convince his former Hearts team-mate to sign for them, if he is allowed to leave Ibrox in a temporary switch.
If Rangers do decide to farm out Webster, May has admitted he would be interested in pursuing the Scotland cap and giving him the chance to resurrect his faltering club and international career at Westfield.
However, any move for the central defender – who was loaned to Bristol City last season and has not played a single first-team game for Rangers since completing his protracted permanent transfer to Ibrox last summer – could hinge on how much of his wages they are expected to pick up.
May said: "Andy Webster is a Rangers player and a lot of things would dictate whether he was to become available. But if he did then of course I would be interested. He's had his problems over the last few years, but he is a very talented player. He played for Scotland B last season, but he should really be nearer to the full Scotland team. He is the calibre of player we want to bring to Falkirk to take us on to the next level."
