Marc Warren feels in fine fettle
MARC Warren delivered an upbeat assessment on the state of his game after closing with a round of 66 to finish in a tie for sixth place at the Barclays Kenya Open on the Challenge Tour.
Warren, who topped the second-tier circuit in 2005, was unable to add his tally of two Challenge Tour titles at the 190,000 event, his eight under par aggregate total falling six shots short of Michiel Bothma's winning mark. But, after sprinkling six birdies in his closing round at Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi, Kenya, the 30-year-old radiated confidence as he sets about trying to earn his European Tour card back.
Warren said: "I've really felt great about my game this week, I've just struggled a little bit on the greens. Today was very close to being a great round of golf - I was disappointed that I missed the green at the last hole, because it probably would've been the first time I've ever hit all 18 greens. I only missed two greens yesterday, so from tee to green I couldn't be any happier with the way I'm striking the ball - all that's been missing is a few more putts."
Warren finished on 276, five shots in front of Craig Lee (70) and seven ahead of Andrew Coltart (67). Gavin Dear, the other Scot to qualify for the final two rounds, was forced to withdrew due to injury.
