Mallo says he's close to joining Hibs

FALKIRK goalkeeper Dani Mallo has revealed he is on the verge of signing for Hibernian.

The 30-year-old admitted he has been in touch with new Easter Road manager John Hughes about a move. Hughes managed Mallo at Falkirk last season before he quit the club for his dream move to the Edinburgh side. And the Spanish keeper looks set to follow his old boss to Leith on a free transfer as his current contract expires as the end of the month. Mallo said: "Hibs are a great club with history and passion and the coach already knows me."

Meanwhile, Steven Fletcher will ignore continuing speculation that he is set to move to Celtic, according to his agent, Scott Fisher.

The 22-year-old striker was subject of a failed by the Parkhead club in January and with former Easter Road manager Tony Mowbray having taken over at Celtic, fresh reports have emerged linking Fletcher with his former mentor, despite having four years left on his contract at Hibs. However, Fisher said: "John Hughes is looking to speak to all of his players over the next couple of weeks and Steven will be one of them sitting down to talk to him.

"No matter what happens, Steven will remain fully focused on the job in hand."
