Macaulay and Booth could be dream duo

CALLUM Macaulay makes his debut for GB&I in this weekend’s St Andrews Trophy at Kingsbarns, hoping to strike up a profitable partnership with fellow-Scot, Wallace Booth. The Scottish Amateur champion from Tulliallan forms part of Colin Dalgleish’s nine-man side for the biennial joust with an impressive European team.

Macaulay and Booth have teamed up before for Scotland on the international stage and their alliance helped Europe win the Bonallack Trophy against Asia- Pacific earlier this year with the Scots duo plundering two points from three foursome and fourball matches.

“Wallace and myself have a decent record in team events and hopefully we’ll be paired together again,” said Macaulay, the highest Scot on the world amateur rankings at No12.

Meanwhile, Michael Stewart, the Scottish Boys’ champion from Troon, will skipper the GB&I Under-18 side against Europe in the Jacques Leglise Trophy also at Kingsbarns this weekend.

Continent of Europe; B Akesson (Swe), J Kennegard (Swe), J Campillo (Spa), S Gross (Ger), B Hebert (Fra), A Kaleka (Fra), A Pavan (Ita), R Saxton (Ned), T Sluiter (Ned).
