Lothians boys make golf history

HISTORY was created when Lothians took on international opposition for the first time at the new Renaissance Club near Gullane.

The boys' match against Canada was hailed a success and not just because it ended in a 5-2 win for the hosts.

"It was the first Lothians event to be held at the Renaissance and, hopefully, it will not be the last," said junior convenor Paul Gibson.

"The people there were great and all the players said the course was one of the best they had ever played."

James Ross, Oliver Huish, Stuart Boyle, Blair Pelling and Jordyn Rhind won for the Lothians against a strong Canadian side that also played Fife during their trip.

Results (Lothians names first): J Ross beat J Gibson 3 and 2; O Huish beat C Dale 2 and 1; T Blennerhasset lost to B Greiner 3 and 2; S Boyle beat J Arndt 2 and 1; M Dickson halved with H Craig; B Pelling beat S Scheidt 3 and 2; A Blaney lost to S Mgindas 3 and 2; J Rhind beat S Minion one hole.
