London Irish prop cited for alleged stamping

London Irish prop forward Faan Rautenbach has been cited for allegedly stamping on the head and shoulder of Munster's Ireland international flanker David Wallace.

Rautenbach was yellow-carded following the incident during a Heineken Cup clash between the teams in Limerick last Saturday.

But the citing commissioner Francois Guers has now made a complaint against Rautenbach, with the case to be heard tomorrow.

The 34-year-old could face a ban of anything between a fortnight and maximum of 52 weeks.

Toulouse centre Florian Fritz will appear before the same disciplinary panel tomorrow after being sent off in Sunday's 21-16 defeat by Wasps.

Fritz was shown a red card for his spear tackle on Tom Varndell and later became the subject of a misconduct complaint. The France internationalist is alleged to have made an offensive hand gesture in the direction of spectators as he was walked from the pitch after being dismissed.

l Italy prop forward Martin Castrogiovanni has turned down offers from French clubs to sign a new contract with Leicester.

Castrogiovanni has been a major success at Welford Road since his arrival in 2006 but his current deal was due to expire at the end of the season.
