Livi eventually see off Clyde in fine style
IT took five attempts but Livingston booked their place in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup in style, recording a record home win trouncing Clyde 7-1.
The Lions now face First Division leaders Dundee at home on Saturday, 9 January, signalling the return of former fans' favourite Leigh Griffiths.
Livi made a terrific start, scoring after four minutes on the counter attack after defending a corner. Keaghan Jacobs released Robbie Winters and he raced away, teeing up Liam Fox before Jacobs pounced on the rebound. However, their lead lasted only six minutes when former Hearts player Alan Lithgow scored with a thunderous strike from all of 35 yards.
It was all square at the break but any lingering doubts about how these teams would be separated were dismissed emphatically as the Lions scored three goals in the opening six minutes through Fox with a stunning volley from 20 yards, Winters and Andrew Halliday.
Winters scored his second to make it 6-1, deftly flicking over Reidford from 12 yards out. Reidford then reacted well to save from substitute David Winters but Fox snapped up the rebound for his brace and Livi's seventh.
Livi manager Gary Bollan said: "If we had taken our chances in the first half, the scoreline could have been even bigger."
