Linlithgow head up Lothians challenge in EoS cup drive
TOMORROW sees the first round of the East of Scotland Cup, a competition second only to the Scottish Junior Cup in terms of entrant numbers.
The pick of the 32 ties sees Linlithgow Rose face a tricky tie at Montrose Roselea. Linlithgow are one of the favourites for the competition because of their recent history in big cup events. The Prestonfield outfit have had a stuttering start to the season but last week finally found their way to goal.
Carnoustie Panmure play hosts to Whitburn while in another tie that takes a Lothian side to Tayside, Premier League side Arniston Rangers have the chance to gauge for themselves if they are promotion contenders when they face Dundee side Lochee United. It'll be a severe test for Arniston's young squad but one they need at this stage of the season.
Newly-promoted Newtongrange will be just a mile or two away as they play Broughty Athletic in what promises to be cracking cup tie.
East Super league leaders Musselburgh, meanwhile, have a short trip along the East Lothian coast to South Division side Haddington.
Bathgate are at City Park in the Capital where they will tackle the East Juniors' newest recruits, Spartans.
