Lily flourish thanks to a five-star fightback

Easthouses Lily 5, Preston Athletic2

PRESTON, despite facing the strong wind, forced the early play and deservedly went in front in the 15th minute when a slip by the Lilly keeper Ross Combe allowed Craig Manson to sidefoot the ball into the net.

Preston increased their lead in the 28th minute when an excellent corner kick by Jamie Campbell was bulleted past keeper Combe via the head of Craig Scott at the back post.

The home side pulled one back in the 34th minute when a long ball over the top was chased by Ryan Curran, who harried the Preston defender, took the ball cleanly and fired across Ross Gilpin into the far corner of the net.

On the stroke of half time, the Lily equalised through Neil Ferrie who controlled and smashed the ball past Gilpin from ten yards.

The home side increased their lead in the 55th minute through William Kidd. Ryan Curran netted his second goal in the 64th minute with David Beattie side-footing a fifth after 87 minutes.
