Letter
FOR almost two weeks now, I have watched as a very good Falkirk fan, Steven Jackson (of BairnsTrust], has been publicly castigated on a daily basis by head coach John Hughes.
I am appalled that the chairman and board of directors stand idly by and watch a member of their staff behave in such a manner. Do they deny that they asked the BairnsTrust and the head coach to make no further comment on the matter until after Thursday's board meeting? Jackson and the Trust have stuck by their side of the bargain, yet the personal attacks have continued unabated. Why have the board failed to contain this issue and the comments of one of their employees?
Hughes had no problem with fans' representatives being on the board when I was one of the panel who interviewed him for the manager's post.
While the Trust has been criticised for the timing of their letter it should also be noted that the timing of falling six points behind Kilmarnock was not exactly something to be proud of.
BairnsTrust is an organisation which exists to reflect the views of the Falkirk fans or it is nothing. The letter was written after consultation with the convenors of most of the regular supporters' buses and whether folk like it or not reflected their views at that time.
It is time for the board to draw a line under this unfortunate episode and get on with the real job of keeping us in the SPL.
