Laszlo confirms interest in signing Barr from Falkirk
CSABA Laszlo, the Hearts manager, last night confirmed his interest in luring the Falkirk captain Darren Barr to Tynecastle in time for the start of the new season.
The Hungarian has been monitoring Barr since January and believes his youthfulness offers sound development potential for Hearts, who are seeking to replace departed defenders Robbie Neilson and Christos Karipidis.
"He is a very good player," said Laszlo following his side's victory over Goslar SC 08. "For the past six months, we had an interest. At the moment, before we talk of names, we must look at what is possible in the market. We look at names and I am happy the board is giving us the opportunity to search for somebody.
"It's not easy, but definitely Barr is a very interesting player. He is Scottish and we must also look to bring more home players to the team."
Laszlo also spoke on the possibility of Michael Stewart being appointed the new club captain after he donned the armband last night.
"He is the most experienced in the team, so why not?" said the manager. "Mike, Larry Kingston and Marius Zaliukas have a chance, but Mike is back in the national team and his attitude is fantastic."
