Largs lands Laser Radial world event
SCOTLAND will host the Laser Radial World Championships next year, the biggest and most significant Olympic classes regatta to be landed since the Scottish Sailing Institute was set up in Largs ten years ago.
Part of four weeks which comprise the Laser World Championships, the Radial worlds will bring more than 500 competing sailors plus coaching and ancillary staff to Largs from 7 to 25 July next year.
During the first week the Radial Women's Worlds take place for the Olympic women's single-handed class, followed by the Masters and Youth Worlds.
The Open Laser World and Junior Championships take place in late August, after the Sail for Gold Regatta, and are followed by the Laser Masters Worlds.
With a budget of about 500,000, the World Championships are a great showcase for sailing on the Clyde, and provide an opportunity for teams to prepare for possible roles at the 2012 Olympic regatta in Weymouth.
