Lanark Grammar pupils excel at volleyball

Volleyball Programme of Excellence. South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture's (SLLC) Active Schools Team has been working in partnership with staff and pupils from Lanark Grammar School to enhance a developmental programme of sporting excellence. The Sporting Talent Achievement Recognition (STAR) programme, which has been running for the past year, was created by the School's PE Teacher, Andy Barr and involves twenty one talented pupils engaging in a structured programme of activities. The pupils work alongside pupils with similar abilities and talents while receiving additional high quality teaching and support to help them fully realise their potential.

LANARK Grammar staff members and 21 pupils have proved that they are quite literally a bunch of STARS!

For the group – led by PE teacher Andy Barr – have been doing a structured programme of activities through the Sporting Talent Achievement Recognition (STAR) programme.

Andy said: “The STAR programme has been running in the school for quite some time now and we are working with a number of talented pupils to help them become high achievers and reach excellent levels of performance in sport and physical education.

“The Active Schools staff have been a great help in advancing our progamme and, by bringing us the additional expertise and knowledge of Andy Fleming from Volleyball Scotland, this has helped the pupils to maximise their volleyball performance.”

Working in tandem with South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture’s (SLLC) Active Schools Team, the pupils are currently being helped to realise their full volleyball potential.
