Killie's policy is fine
THE Daily Express yesterday carried an interview with Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnston, who tried to play down reports of a rift at Rugby Park following the news that players are to be hit with hefty fines for red and yellow cards.
Johnston insists he is not at war with the Kilmarnock squad and says the fines have been introduced in an attempt to clean up the club's poor disciplinary record.
"There is not a problem with any of the players or the management about the disciplinary procedures," he said. "We decided we need to act because we had one of the worst disciplinary records in Scottish senior football. We were fined 5,000 and told that would be doubled unless we improved our discipline this season, so that was why I decided to act."
The Daily Record, meanwhile, kept the Old Firm-for-England pot boiling, with Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp calling on Rangers and Celtic to be invited into a restructured English Premier League. "Absolutely," said Redknapp. "I would welcome Celtic and Rangers to English football. No doubt about it."
