Kevin Kyle enjoys his trial with Russian team
KEVIN Kyle said he "enjoyed" his trial match with Russian club Spartak Nalchik yesterday and had an open mind about where his future lay.
The Kilmarnock striker, who is out of contract in the summer, flew out to Turkey for Spartak's pre-season training camp to play in a game against Zhemchuzhina Sochi. The 28-year-old did not score but had a hand in one of the goals in a 3-0 win.
"I've not decided on anything; I've just come out to speak to them," Kyle told BBC Scotland. "I enjoyed the experience."
Spartak's assistant coach Kazbek Nakhushev this week revealed his side are interested in signing Kyle.
Nakhushev is quoted as saying: "We will have an impression of Kyle right after the game and will say then where we stand. We are aiming to recruit several new players. We recently had a look at a Slovenian player – but I can tell you, he didn't impress. So Kyle has a good chance of being offered a deal."
Kyle is expected to play for Kilmanrock in tomorrow's SPL clash at Hibernian. But he will be able to join Spartak at any time before the Russian Premier Liga season starts the following weekend as they do not operate under the standard transfer window.
