Judo: Gemma Gibbons in gold win

Edinburgh-based judo player Gemma Gibbons struck gold in the Under-78kg event at the Dusseldorf Grand Prix in Germany last night.

The Olympic silver medallist, competing in her first international competition since London 2012, beat Japan’s Ruika Sato in the final. Gibbons had beaten Marhinde Verkerk (Netherlands) in the semi-finals.
