Jimmy Calderwood's Old Trafford boast wears thin for Jimmy Nicholl
Cowdenbeath manager Jimmy Nicholl hopes to settle a decades-old score with his Ross County counterpart Jimmy Calderwood when the Dingwall side travel to Fife tonight.
Nicholl, who worked alongside Calderwood in the dugout at Aberdeen, Dunfermline and Kilmarnock said: "The only other time we have been on opposite sides was when I was a player at Manchester United and Jimmy was playing for the Birmingham City side that came to Old Trafford and won. I have heard about it for years and so have hundreds of other people. Now I have a chance to redress the balance."
Cowdenbeath currently sit in the relegation play-off position, but County are just four points above them in eighth and Calderwood said: "Things should never have came to this at Ross County but we have the chance to get out of it.
"It will be a strange experience seeing Jimmy in the other dug-out but I am looking forward to it although it will only be enjoyable if we win."
Defenders Joe Mbu and John Anderson and midfielder Colin Cameron remain out for Cowdenbeath, but striker Greg Stewart should return after work commitments kept him out at the weekend
Strikers Michael Gardyne and Steven Milne are injury doubts for County, with defender Darren McCormack already ruled out longer term.
Morton take on manager Allan Moore's former Stirling Albion side with the Cappielow manager demanding consistency from his men. Moore said: "Our performances and results against the sides at the top of the table are better than those in the other half and that is really frustrating."
However, the Greenock side could be hampered by injuries as they look set to be without five players, with goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert and striker Sean Fitzharris joining Darren Young, Allan Jenkins and Kevin Kelbie on the sidelines.
Stirling look all but doomed at the foot of the table, but their manager Jocky Scott said: "We should not be losing the goals we are losing and if we can stop doing that we still have a chance."
Partick Thistle host Falkirk in the first of three games between the sides in a fortnight. Firhill assistant manager Ian Maxwell said: "We want to finish the season as high up the table as we can and with three games to come against Falkirk we want to close that nine-point gap."
Paul Paton, Bryan Hodge and Ryan MacBeth continue to be ruled out with midfielder Paul Cairney expected to earn a seat on the substitutes' bench after injury.
Falkirk need a win to rekindle their outside hopes of landing the First Division title. Their challenge has taken a knock with successive draws at Cowdenbeath and then Morton but manager Steven Pressley said: "We played some good stuff at times against Morton on Saturday and we just need to do that consistently over the 90 minutes."For the first 15 to 20 minutes we were not in the game but we came through that and got into things."
"The games between us and Thistle have been really tight this season and this one will be no different so we need to be ready to impose our game on them from the kick-off."
Tam Scobbie is a major doubt for Falkirk after injuring a rib at Cappielow at the weekend and his defensive colleague Brian McLean drops out after a ban. However, front man Carl Finnigan is available after suspension.
