Jefferies bans interviews
KILMARNOCK manager Jim Jefferies has imposed a ban on his players talking to the media in a bid to coax a repeat performance of their recent win against Falkirk.
A Kevin Kyle hat-trick earned Killie a 3-0 win over the Bairns at Rugby Park last month as the Ayrshire side moved six points ahead of the SPL bottom club.
Subsequent results have cut the gap back down to three points before Falkirk again visit Rugby Park tomorrow.
A gag on his players worked for Jefferies the last time, so he has again urged them to do their talking on the park.
"Sometimes they can say things leading up to a big game and sometimes they can get stitched up," he said.
"Someone else can put a different slant on it and then it's good fodder for Falkirk to pin on their board and get fired up. So we'll alleviate all that."
Jefferies is surprised Killie are back in the same position so soon after their comprehensive win over Falkirk.
"It's the same scenario," he said. "I'm surprised we're down there at all but that's the way this season is – there's not a lot between the teams.
"I say I'm surprised but I'm also realistic enough to know it could happen. I thought the team were good enough to get in the top six but you need the breaks to do that."
