Japanese duo lead the way in Mizuno Classic
JAPAN'S Mayu Hattori and Miki Saiki shot five-under 67s yesterday to share the first-round lead in the Mizuno Classic in Shima, Japan.
Women's British Open champion Shin Ji-yai was a stroke back along with South Korean compatriot Lim Eun-a in the event.
"As a whole, my shots weren't perfect," said Saiki. "But my short game and putting helped me a lot." Defending champion Momoko Ueda opened with a 70. Australian Karrie Webb, the 2006 winner, had an even-par 72.
Of the Scots contingent, Glasgow's Janice Moodie was on 71 while North Berwick's Catriona Matthew carded a 72.
