Icy weather takes its toll on Boxing Day fixtures

The big freeze continues to disrupt fixtures across Scotland with a number of Boxing Day matches postponed.

Both the SPL and SFL leagues are affected with Kilmarnock's match against Hearts at Rugby Park the highest profile encounter to fall victim to the weather so far.

League bosses say the match has been postponed due to faulty undersoil heating and frozen pipes in the stadium.

No rescehduled date has yet been announced.

A morning pitch inspection has also been scheduled for Dundee United's match against Hamilton at Tannadice on Sunday which is due to kick-off at 3pm.

In the SFL several Boxing Day matches have fallen victim to the bad weather.

Matches confirmed off in the First Division are Queen of South v Dundee and Stirling v Morton.

In the second Peterhead v Stenhousemuir, Airdrie Utd v East Fife, Brechin v Ayr and Dumbarton v Forfar are all off.

While in the Third Division Annan Athletic v Berwick and Elgin v Clyde have both been postponed.
