Ice Hockey: Lowly Capitals find the net but not the points on Tayside

Edinburgh CAPITALS failed to halt their losing streak last night as they went down 8-4 to Dundee CCS Stars in the inaugural East Coast Cup in the city of Discovery. The Tayside ice hockey team, beaten 5-2 at Kirkcaldy in their opening match in the round robin event, were comfortable winners.

And teenage prospect James Smith once again proved he can play with quality opposition. He earned Dundee's man of the match award with two goals, while Tristan Harper also netted a double.

Capitals, who travelled with only ten skaters plus two goaltenders, in a squad which included three import players, claimed consolation goals from Ian Blake with two, Fife-based defenceman Kyle Horne and Neil Dolan.

The sides were level at 1-1 after the first period but Dundee CCS Stars won the second 4-2 and the third 3-1.
