Ice Hockey: Horne signs new deal with Capitals
KYLE HORNE today re-signed for Edinburgh Capitals and said: "It's great to be back."
The Fife-based player has put pen to paper, a move he considers will be good for his career in British ice hockey.
"I was really determined to stay at the top level of the game," Horne revealed.
Last season, the 28-year-old re-established himself as one of Britain's top defencemen and the six-foot-one player claimed 18 points from six goals and 12 assists. He will now start his fourth season with the Murrayfield men in September.
Capitals coach Doug Christiansen is excited at having Horne and another Great Britain defenceman, Ben O'Connor, in his squad.
"This is my third year with Kyle and I know exactly what to expect," said American Christiansen. "He is not overly physical but he makes a great first pass and is strong positionally. He has scored some big goals for us in the last two years and I expect him to add more this year."
Horne is one of the most popular players in the dressing-room and Christiansen added: "He is one of the best locker-room players I have ever been around.
"He is a guy who never complains and is always ready for a new challenge. I have a great amount of respect for Kyle and I am really looking forward to working with him again."
Christiansen went on: "We have two of the top eight British defenders. Ben O'Connor and Kyle Horne gives us a great foundation from which to build."
